We understand the difficult choices that both parents and players face when selecting a club volleyball program. One of the reasons why the Excell Sports Club Volleyball program has become such a force on the club scene is due to the talented and decorated coaching staff that makes up our coaching team. Each Coach is carefully selected for their exceptional knowledge and understanding of the sport, as well as for their history of successes and their upstanding character, both on and off the courts. We are thankful for our team, and for the impact they are making in not only the sport, but in the lives of our youth.
"A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life." - John Wooden
Coach Dean Bailey
Coach Dean graduated from Greenville High School and attended Furman University, graduating in 2012 with a BA in health sciences. While in college, Coach Dean began coaching volleyball with another local club program and was with them from 2010 - 2019. For two seasons, he coached the boys program. Coach McKean just completed his second year as the Head JV Coach at Easley High School while also serving as an Assistant Coach on the Varsity team. When Coach McKean was asked about his recent past regular season as well as his goals for joining the Excell staff for the club season he said, "It has been a fun and challenging season as the coaching staff there has worked together to continue to establish a positive and winning culture in building a program for the Lady Green Wave. My goal is to apply this knowledge and experience at Excell in preparing these young ladies for competitive play at both the JV and Varsity levels. Along the way, I know it will be important as an opportunity to me to continue to grow in my own experience and knowledge. It is also my goal that these girls learn life lessons in adversity, overcoming, courage, kindness, support, patience, compassion, listening, hearing, and many other areas which go beyond simply winning and losing on the court. Simply put, I want them to grow as young women as well as volleyball players. I equally desire to help them grow as individuals spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically as we traverse the many ups and downs a season inevitably holds. I want to push them and help them to become all they wish to be during the volleyball season and beyond as they finish their high school years and as they begin looking towards whatever God may have for them in the future."
Coach McKean has three children. His oldest is a freshman in college playing beach volleyball at Erskine College.
